This is an old sample of a culatta card holder made of recycled parts of my very first wallets. So there are some extra traces of these past lives.
This beautiful cardholder was also an experiment on the mirror polish edge finishing. The leather edge and flesh side can be burnished. So its fibers melt and mold together from friction. Especially on the veg tan leather.
In mass market leather goods it's usually imitated by applying a thick coat of paint or plastic on the edge.
My goal is to have as much natural texture as possible, even if I'm polishing it. So I never use dyes and paints that create a coating.
I love how leather ages, so you can earn your patina.
Composition:
- Veg tan horse culatta (reverse side out)
- Glazed veg tan horse shoulder
Please note, that samples and protoypes on sale may have small imperfections and store the history of my design process. All samples are sold at 50% discount.
All leather items are hand-stitched and handmade without any machines from the most amazing materials. Traditional veg tan leather, deadstock Italian leather, glass glazed horse shoulder, horse culatta and shell cordovan. You can read more about the horse leather in the blog.

What is horse culatta leather?
Culatta leather also comes mostly from horses. Anatomically only equine animals have the shell connective tissue in their butts. So probably donkey or zebra culatta is also technically possible, but...
